We had to make the tough, but in our eyes justified, decision to cancel the Roparun 2020. As a foundation we think it’s of the highest importance to take responsibility and to stop the spread of COVID-19 where possible. Because we’re a foundation focussed on the well-being of people, it’s our duty to put health and safety first.
Roparun is an event with a team of employees and over 500 volunteers working an entire year to prepare. This time is necessary to make sure the event is safe and ready to go. Our event also spans over 1000 kilometres, through 4 countries. Add to that the three day duration of the event (excluding construction/deconstruction). This combination makes it almost impossible to find a suitable new date. The organisation is going to do everything it can to produce an amazing edition in 2021.
The Roparun foundation supports many different causes with the funds raised by the teams. This will still continue even though the event has been cancelled. Projects and causes in the field of palliative care for people with cancer can still apply for financing through Roparun.
The Roparun lottery will continue as usual. Everything raised with the lottery goes straight to supporting causes and organisations in the palliative care. The draw will be announced on June 13th and the prizes will be awarded starting from that day.
